Activism in Education

I took my kids to downtown Victoria today for the Climate Strike. There were large groups of students of all ages there with their teachers, in their school colours, all with carefully made signs. My 2 and 4-year-old were entranced by all the chanting and singing children. I’m glad that so many teachers decided to take part today and to get their students so involved. I can imagine all the lessons they have had leading up to it and those that they will be able to plan for the days to come.

I’m not sure how much of today my own kids will remember in years to come, but I will be able to tell them that we did not sit silent while the future of the planet they will inherit was in jeopardy.
